Year 2/3

Blue Tongues v’s Roos was the first game of the day. The air was thick with anticipation, as the Blue Tongues and Roos faced off. After an intense 10 minutes, Claudia Scoffern scored the first goal for the Roos, with Daniel King scoring another 2 in quick succession. But the Blue Tongues put up a solid defence and it wasn’t long before Jordan Cummings booted a beauty in to their goals. The next 8 goals belonged to the Blue Tongues in what promised to be a nail biting game. In the end, the game belonged to the Blue Tongues with a convincing win of 9 goals to 3. Player of the Day for Blue Tongues was Jordan Cumming and for the Roos was Daniel King.

The next game was Geckos v’s Cockatoos. Gecko’s Monty Dallywater scored the only 3 goals for the game with his team mate Zac Valenta putting up a tough defence. Cockatoos tried their best but we’re no match for the Geckos. Player of the Day Geckos Monty Dallywater 4 / 5 / 6 Games

Redbacks showed strong defence with C Kenyon on fire with 2 goals. A whole team effort was displayed by the Huntsmens. Emily Battista scored a great goal with her team mate O. McLean stopping several Redbacks attempt at goals. Player of the Day Huntsmens was H Silvester. Redbacks was C Kenyon.

The second game of the day started quickly with Brock Honsa kicking the first goal for the Dugites from inside the goal circle. From there the Wasps defence worked hard to stop the ball reaching the goal circle while kicking the ball into their forward half where the Dugites defence rebounded the ball back frequently. Honsa let fly a long kick from just inside half pitch which skidded through the Wasp goal keeper’s hands for another Dugite goal. Quickly after the restart, Wasps forward Morgan Scoffern managed to kick the ball through the Dugite goal keeper for the Wasps first.

The second half again saw good defence from both teams, before another long strike from Deegan Cummings found the net for the Dugites third goal. The Wasps then moved the ball forward causing the Dugite defence to crumble when Oliver Lister kicked the Wasps second goal. The ball continued being passed between the two defensive lines, with great skills and a lot of courageous play making from both teams not allowing another score for some time. Cummings again finding the net from a long-range strike to make the score Dugites 4 to Wasps 2. A brilliant game to watch with all players showing a great deal of pride in the game. Dugites Player of the Day was Lee Brown. Wasps was Lucas Worlley.

The last game was tense with the Scorpion’s forwards pressing the Hornets backline with two early goals to Jessie Munday. Both forward lines had opportunities but the backlines were resolute. The Hornets scored late in the first half with Marshall Putland converting. The second half was a real arm wrestle. Scorpion’s converted another goal with a team goal struck by Putland. Jordan Henke scored a great goal with help from all the team. Player of the Day Hornets was Kyan Young. Scorpions, Adam Bateman.
